Singapore packs an extraordinary concentration of world-class hotels into a city-state smaller than most major cities. Competition here is fierce, which means standards are exceptionally high — even a "disappointing" luxury stay in Singapore would be outstanding elsewhere.
How We Rank
Every hotel on this list has been evaluated using the SEA Hotel Score, our AI-powered rating system that aggregates reviews from Booking.com, Agoda, Google, TripAdvisor, and Expedia. We weight five dimensions: Service (30%), Location (20%), Amenities (20%), Value (15%), and Cleanliness (15%).
1. Capella Singapore — Score: 94
Tucked away on Sentosa Island in a pair of beautifully restored 1880s colonial buildings, Capella feels like a private estate rather than a hotel. The architecture by Norman Foster is stunning. Bob's Bar serves what many consider Singapore's best cocktails.
Best for: Couples and travellers who want seclusion without sacrificing quality. The Palawan Suites with plunge pools are worth the upgrade.
What to know: It's a 15-minute taxi from Orchard Road. Some guests find the Sentosa location inconvenient for city exploration, but the hotel's complimentary car service helps.
2. Raffles Singapore — Score: 92
The grand dame of Singapore hospitality, Raffles reopened after a meticulous restoration and it's better than ever. The Long Bar (home of the Singapore Sling) is tourist-y but fun. The suites are enormous by Singapore standards.
Best for: History buffs and those who appreciate heritage architecture. The Courtyard Suites offer the best value-to-space ratio.
What to know: Rates are among the highest in Singapore. The lobby can feel busy with non-guests visiting for photos and drinks.
3. Marina Bay Sands — Score: 88
You already know the iconic rooftop infinity pool. But MBS is more than its Instagram moment. The hotel sits directly above one of Asia's best shopping malls and the ArtScience Museum. The rooms themselves are well-appointed but not exceptional for the price.
Best for: First-time visitors who want the full Singapore spectacle. Book a room with a city view — the harbour view rooms face mostly water.
What to know: The pool is reserved for hotel guests, but it gets crowded mid-afternoon. Early morning is the secret sweet spot.
Where to Find the Best Rates
Singapore hotel rates fluctuate significantly between platforms. We regularly see $50-80 per night differences for the same room. During our last comparison, Capella was cheapest on Agoda, while Marina Bay Sands had the best rate on Booking.com.
Use SEA Hotel's price comparison to check all major platforms simultaneously — it takes 30 seconds and can save you hundreds on a multi-night stay.
When to Visit
Singapore is warm and humid year-round (28-32°C). The key variable is events: rates spike during Formula 1 Grand Prix (September-October) and major conventions. Chinese New Year (January-February) brings festive energy but higher prices.
For the best hotel deals, aim for March-April or late October-November.
